Feb. 22, 2006 – 2 Lessons from the Lost Camera
Spunky posted a link on an incredible story. I don’t know how to do all the fancy hiding so here’s the link. http://lostcamera.blogspot.com/2006/02/camera-unlost-but-not-quite-found.html Apparently, someone lost a camera in Hawaii on vacation. It was found, but the little boy who found it decided to keep it. Apparently the camera now resides in Canada, instead of the U.S. and Canadian law inforcement doesn’t want to get involved.
This specific story may or may not be true. However, I believe similar things do happen.
There are 2 big picture lessons that can be learned:
1. When we teach our children entitlement, they don’t want to give things back that aren’t theirs.
Afterall, that’s what an entitlement society teaches. Although tax dollars pay for many of these “services” they are considered by most as “something for nothing” Socialized medicine, social security, and government schools are a few.
2. A society without absolute truths does not work!!
This child’s “truth” is finders keepers. The couple that forked out the money for the camera, the origininal owners, “truth” is irrelevant to the new owners. The absolute truth is that stealing is wrong! But apparently this little boy didn’t learn that.
Yes, Spunky, horrible parenting– unfortunately it’s the wave of the future.
