A Late Night but Worth it!

About a week ago we received an email from some friends of ours.  It was forwarded from a family near us on the No Greater Joy Fellowship Directory.  There was a family that was interested in fellowshipping with like minded believers.   Yesterday morning our friends called and wanted to know if we’d be interested in coming over for dinner, singing and just getting to know this new family.  Of course we said yes.   Amazingly, they have been visiting some at the E-free church we found recently, but our paths had not crossed yet.  We found a breath of fresh air last night.

I think it’s safe to say a wonderful time was had by all.  It was almost midnight by the time we got home.  Shawn and Kelly hadn’t left when we did.   They are as weird as us—in some ways more weird.  They have no indoor plumbing right now and take their baths in a black cattle trough.  LOL!  We shared testimonies tried to sing a little, prayed a little and ate a little.   Shawn and their oldest son play the guitar, and their middle son plays a mandolin (I think that’s what it was). Coming from a Church of Christ background, where we sing acapella, we struggled a bit as we tried to find the right keys to sing in, but it was okay!

Kelly loves Above Rubies and has the “Soothe Me” CD from Serene and Pearl that she says she listens to daily.

Kelly plays the dulcimer!!! But said she hadn’t played in a while—I hope I’ll be able to convince her to get it out and help me learn some tunes.

I believe we all felt like we met kindred spirits last night.

Meet our new friends at Our Country Quest here.

On another note, we are not crazy.  Both Shawn and Kelly have lived in the small town we do all of their lives.  They say people here are not friendly and have had problems with their neighbors —go figure.

  1. That’s great that you finally found some like-minded friends. It is so much easier to “grow” when you have like-minded friends.

(I did want to point out that the link you provided doesn’t work, though.)

    Blessings ~ Diane
